Studying and Teaching

Dear Students and those that are interested in studying at the TU Berlin,

As deacon of the school of economics and management, I cordially greet you on our homepage and would like to incite your curiosity as to the courses we teach.

You are interested in an economically oriented course of studies at an Institute of Technology. I can only sincerely support and encourage that interest, especially regarding studying in Berlin at our Institute of Technology. A comprehensive understanding of the interdependency between technology and economy is of utmost importance in our ever accelerating world. Those businesses and corporations working with technological products, that would disregard this understanding will tend to lose competitive advantages in our globalized world. In our courses you are encouraged to pursue these and related questions with a specific focus of your choice, and are thus enabled to start your careers with an alumni profile in great demand.

The course offer of our school reflects this fundamental problem. You can review the content and questions of our teaching and research activities on the websites of our respective chairs. As a directing principle for our teaching and research, we have determined five ‘fundamental orientations’: Decisionmaking-, Future-, Technology-, Practice- and Sustainability-orientation. The focus in research on central questions aligned with the Future –Fields of the TU Berlin further serve to offer up to date course contents and allow the active participation in research, e.g. as a student research assistant.

In a globalized (economic) world, an international orientation to your studies is becoming increasingly requisite. Our courses are thus accompanied by numerous exchange programs and offer excellent possibilities to gather intercultural experiences and deepen intercultural understanding. The fact that Berlin offers extraordinary possibilities as a base of studies is well known, and therefore I will leave it others to elaborate on this point. Also there are numerous student groups that you can involve yourself in, to further develop our curriculum in dialogue with the school.

I hope I was able to incite your curiosity for our school and may soon be able to greet you personally as a new student of our Institute during our extensive days of orientation at our campus!

Best regards

Deacon of the School
